Hydra open source

Inspect, build, and contribute to Hydra.

Use the local desktop to find and organize coding-agent sessions, or build your own integration with Hydra Remote. The desktop, desktop/headless Remote agent, browser terminal/controller engine and signaling broker are available in the public repository.

These first-party components use the MIT License. Third-party components keep their own licenses and notices; Hydra’s names and marks remain separate.

Use the application

Install Hydra for macOS or Linux, then follow the existing-session guide. Local use does not require a Hydra account. Official packages include the optional hosted Remote integration.

Build with Hydra Remote

The browser engine provides terminal rendering, session and layout control, reconnect and encrypted transport. The agent authenticates and authorizes remote operations before forwarding them to local retained terminals. The broker introduces the peers without handling terminal content.

This is an integration toolkit, not a turnkey self-hosted service. You supply identity, enrollment, authorization, storage and network services through the typed interfaces. The libraries build without Clerk or Stripe, and currently use locally built packages rather than an npm-registry release. Building the source does not grant access to the hosted service.

What the public boundary means

The hosted account website and surrounding UI, hosted enrollment and authorization-service composition, billing integrations, deployment configuration and relay infrastructure remain private. Read the public/private boundary for the exact scope.

Release correspondence

The latest source and the latest packaged release can differ. The Remote source release is not a new installer. Check the tagged release notes for the version you download, including its source and artifact verification information.
